December 6 and 13

The Aztec Stone of the Sun, a round calendar carved from a single piece of stone and featuring symbols relating to the sun.

From Stonehenge to the Aztec sundials, ancient peoples looked to the heavens for guidance and inspiration. Spend two afternoons stargazing in the Hayden Planetarium, explore artifacts in the Museum’s cultural halls, and discover the roles of celestial bodies and events in the lives of ancient peoples.
