Is cannabis good or bad for mental health?

In this SciCafe, Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth research scientist Jacob Borodovsky shares the good and bad news about the complexity of cannabis: it holds much promise as a potential medicine for many ailments, but there is a gap between the hype and the evidence-based research supporting the hype.

This gap is a particular concern with respect to the topic of mental health. Cannabis has been touted in popular media as an effective treatment for a variety of psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress, psychosis, and addiction. Borodovsky will discuss why cannabis cannot be pigeonholed as strictly helpful or harmful.
