Disappearing Insects: What We Know and What We Can Do

Join us for a special evening for educators with Jessica Ware, Ph.D., associate curator, Division of Invertebrate Zoology at the American Museum of Natural History.

Insects are the most diverse life on the planet with over 1.5 million described species and likely several tens of millions of species yet to be described. Insects are declining at an unprecedented rate, however, likely due to the cascading impacts of climate change and human activities. Dr. Ware will discuss an overview of why insects are vital to human survival, the main factors influencing their decline, and suggestions on what we can each do to help “the little things that run the world” survive.
