Friday Early Morning Spring Bird Walks in Central Park

Eight Fridays, April 4 - May 23, 2014

A small bird, yellow, black, and white is perched on a small branch.

Project Safe Flight
Every year hundreds of migratory birds passing through New York City are injured or killed when they collide with tall, reflective buildings. New York City's Audubon Society initiated Project Safe Flight to prevent these collisions.

Observe the vibrant spring migration of birds in Central Park with ornithologists Paul Sweet (Tuesdays and Fridays) or Joseph DiCostanzo(Wednesdays and Thursdays). Learn how to use field marks, habitat, behavior, and song as aids in identification. Birder field cards included. (For tickets, see Tuesdays, Session I.)

All birdwalks start across from the Museum on the northeast corner of Central Park West and 77th Street. Walks are limited to 15 people per series. Be sure to bring a pair of binoculars, and wear comfortable shoes. Please note: These walks are more than an hour long, with steps, slopes and wood-chip paths.
