Gulping down a snack 10 times your own weight. Or living in depths where there is no sunlight to support life.
In Life at the Limits: Nature’s Superheroes, you’ll discover the remarkable "super powers" that some extraordinary organisms have evolved to survive and thrive, even under extreme conditions. Highlights include opportunities to explore a gallery devoted to life inside caves, inhabited by animals adapted to low-light conditions, climb a larger-than-life model of a Hercules beetle, smell the pungent odor of the corpse flower, and see 10-foot models of microscopic animals called tardigrades that can survive dehydration, extreme temperatures, and even space.
Members can enjoy exclusive preview access to this extraordinary exhibition. Timed-entry tickets will be required and can be reserved online.
Step 1: Visit our ticketing page, select the "Museum Members" checkbox, and log in to your account.
Step 2: Select the number of tickets, and then select a date of May 17 or May 18.
Step 3: On the Ticketed Exhibitions page, choose an entry time for Life at the Limits.
While time slots for Member Preview Days may fill up fast, Members can also see Life at the Limits: Nature’s Superheroes for free once it opens to the general public on Monday, May 19, as well as during Member Evening Hours throughout the year.
