Origami Folding Fun Sessions

Join OrigamiUSA at the Museum for special origami classes.

Both morning and afternoon sessions will be held and several class options are available for each session.

All of the following classes take place from 10:30 am - 12:30 pm


Family Fun: Action Models

Level: Beginner
Teacher: Wendy Zeichner

Join Wendy to make origami that jump, fly, and spin. This class is a great opportunity for families to explore the magic of origami together, no experience necessary. For children ages 8 and up. (Adults without children are also welcome!)


Recycled Paper Origami Flowers

Level: Simple
Teacher: Toshiko Kobayashi

Toshiko will teach you how to fold and assemble five flowers from recycled paper.


Origami Bags

Level: Intermediate
Teacher: Kay Eng

Kay will teach a collection of cute yet practical models with a pocket where you can place a note, money, flat candy, or a surprise.



Level: Intermediate
Teacher: Maria Velazquez

Maria will help you tend to a hutch of rabbits including those by Edwin Corrie and Kunihiko Kasahara.


Slalom Kayak

Level: Intermediate
Teacher: Donna Walcavage

Donna will show you how to fold Max Hulme’s great kayak, kayaker and paddle.



Level: High Intermediate
Teacher: Talo Kawasaki

To honor the Year of the Rooster, Talo teaches his new origami rooster and hen.

Level: Low Intermediate
Teacher: Rachel Katz

Gift cards, coins, and even larger objects can fit neatly into one of these practical models.


Rocking Songbird with pocket

Level: Low Intermediate
Teacher: Huy Voun Lee

Create a pretty songbird that rocks back and forth—and also has a pocket to hold small objects.


30-piece Sonobe with 5-Color Weave

Level: Intermediate
Teacher: Nathan Ascher

Learn how to put together a 30-piece modular so that no two pieces touching are the same color.


Sandy's Wired Wreath

Level: Intermediate
Teacher: Sandy Richman

Learn how to make several Swedish Stars and then string them onto a floral wire circle to make a beautiful wreath.


White Shark

Level: Intermediate
Teacher: Joseph Adia

Use a bird base model to create a great white shark.
