Tree core in the Hall of Planet Earth AMNH/D. Finnin

Hudson River Valley, New York | 1792-2006

Tree cores are a way to gather data without damaging a living tree. This core comes from a 214-year-old northern red oak (Quercus rubra), and represents a continuous record of climate in the Hudson River Valley.
