How are skeletal mounts of dinosaurs in museum exhibits built?

The dinosaur displays at AMNH represent the greatest collection of actual dinosaur specimens ever assembled. In planning a dinosaur mount, careful consideration is given to which specimen to use, usually the most complete set of bones from one individual. Then, a highly skilled group of specialists, including curators, preparators, mount-makers, engineers, and installers, work together to build, mount, and install the specimen for exhibition. Large mounts, such as the renovated T. rex mount posed in its stalking posture at AMNH, took a team of about 10 specialists about two years to build and reinstall in its new location.
