Profile: John Sparks

Dr. John Sparks is a curator of ichthyology in the Division of Vertebrate Zoology at the American Museum of Natural History. His research focuses on bioluminescence and biofluorescence in marine fish, and how these characteristics may drive speciation in the open ocean. Dr. Sparks uses a variety of cutting-edge technology, from high-resolution cameras to submarines, to capture the fluorescent patterns in these fish.
