Shelf Life 15: The Guts and Glory of Object Conservation

"The Museum's collection has a very important role [in] showing what was a truly ancestral way of living."

- Vera Solovyeva, Siberian Project Consultant

In the Museum’s Objects Conservation Laboratory, walrus intestines, birch bark, and reindeer hide are all in a day’s work for conservators trying to preserve Siberian anthropology collections for the future.

The Siberian Collections conservation project was made possible in part by the Institute of Museum and Library Services under grant number MA-30-14-0185-14. Support for the conservation of Siberian Collections has been provided by the Stockman Family Foundation Trust.
