Maree Clarke is an Indigenous sculptor and jeweler in Australia whose art aims to connect people with their culture. She makes supersized gold necklaces that mix kangaroo teeth, quills and feathers, and clay Kopi skull caps that echo those worn in Indigenous mourning rituals. Though her work can be found in Australia’s history museums, it is more activist than historical art.

Plays as part of the Through the Artist’s Lens program.
