Can you imagine an elevator to the Moon, a lunar habitat, or colonies on Mars? In anticipation of the upcoming exhibition Beyond Planet Earth: The Future of Space Exploration, opening on November 19, the Museum wants to see what you think will be humanity’s next steps in space—in three minutes or less.

In a video, show us your original, out-of-this-world vision for the future of space exploration. Where will we go? What will we discover? Will we find evidence of life on another planet? Submit your video to the Beyond Planet Earth Video Contest by November 3, 2011.

The winning video will be featured on amnh.org and screened at SpaceFest! at the Museum on January 15, 2012. The winner will also receive tickets to Beyond Planet Earth, a year-long Vimeo Plus membership, tickets to films in the Dreams of Outer Space series at the Margaret Mead Film Festival, and more

Beyond Planet Earth Curator Michael Shara shares his vision for the future below.

Join the Beyond Planet Earth Video Contest group on Vimeo to access a collection of space visualizations and video clips from the Museum’s archives, available for use in the contest, and to submit your video.

Good luck!
