More Trees, Please!

By Francesca, Asha, and Lydia

The Issue: Trees provide shelter, food, shade, and water for animals in the forest. They also provide oxygen for us all to breathe, and absorb carbon dioxide. But deforestation (cutting down trees) is a major problem.

People can help the environment in many ways, like planting trees rather than cutting down trees!

Favorite plant or animal: Mudskipper. I love mudskippers because they are one of the only fish that can breathe air and the only fish that can climb trees.

What you like most about science: I like that there’s always more to explore and more to do.

Advice to kids who think science is boring: Anything that you’re building or experimenting with is science. If you want to make a hoverboard that can go to the moon. That’s science. You experience science everyday. your phone, building, your pets. If you like anything. You like science.
