Programs and Events Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin Representative Visit David Grignon (Nahwahquaw), Tribal Historic Preservation Officer of the Menominee Indian Tribe of Wisconsin vistits AMNH. Programs and Events Tohono O'odham Nation Repatriation AMNH welcomed five representatives from the Tohono O’odham Nation. Programs and Events Reconstruction of the Mo5ol-Uraha of the Sakha People of Siberia The Sakha People of Siberia recreate a summer dwelling of the Yakut (Mo5ol-Uraha), created from ornamental birch bark. Press Release Testimony for Hopi Tribe AMNH Curator Peter Whiteley testified in Maricopa County Superior Court in a case to determine water rights for the Hopi tribe. Cultural Programs Tlingit Voices: a Bridge to New York and Beyond AMNH staff traveled to Juneau to meet with Tlingit elders to discuss plans for the Tlingit section of the Northwest Coast Hall. Blog Post A Major Project in the Northwest Coast Hall The Museum, working with First Nations of the Pacific Northwest, will restore the gallery devoted to Northwest Coast Native cultures. September 25, 2017 Blog Post Historic Chief’s Chest On View in Haida Gwaii The Haida Gwaii Museum at Kay Llnagaay will feature a carved wooden chest from the Museum’s collection. October 26, 2017 Research Conservation of Siberian Collections A two-year project to examine, document, stabilize and rehouse portions of the Museum’s Siberian ethnographic collection.
