LESSON PLAN
(Time required: about 45 minutes)
Students will continue to map the genetic data, compile the data into a single map, and make claims based on the data.
1. Students continue to work with maps to represent data. (10 minutes)
Students continue to work in groups of three or six, using genetic data and rulers to represent data on the maps.
2. Students transfer genetic data to the class map. (10 minutes)
Students transfer the data, and their predictions of where the highways are, to a larger class size map.
3. Students use data to make claims about highways and bighorn sheep populations. (15 minutes)
Students examine their genetic data and think about what claims they can make and how they will support them.
4. Complete the Representing and Making Meaning from Genetic Data section of the Investigation Booklet. (10 minutes)
