Frequently Asked Questions

Short Answer Questions

We highly recommend reading the questions below, composing your response in a text editor, then pasting it into the space provided in the application.
Questions 1 - 4 require a one paragraph response (answers must have a minimum of 100 and no more than 150 - 200 words).

  1. How do you think your enrollment in the Brown Scholars program would be of benefit to you?
  2. What is a science question that you have been curious about? What experiment would you create to answer this question?
  3. Tell us about a memorable experience you’ve had with technology, coding, engineering or robotics. The experience could have taken place in school or outside of school. In particular, we want to hear what you liked or disliked about it, what was challenging, what was exciting, etc.
  4. Collaboration and group work are an important part of this program—in other words, you will be working with other students regularly in class. What do you like about working with other students? What do you find difficult? What are some useful strategies you use when working with other people?
  5. Describe how you overcame a learning challenge in a math or science class recently. LIST the steps you took in this situation.
  6. LIST 3 things you think you do well and 3 things you think you could do better if you had someone to help you.
