On June 26 and 27, 2018, the American Museum of Natural History, Division of Anthropology, welcomed delegations from the Pueblo of Acoma (Juana and Kim Charlie), Pueblo of San Felipe (Ruben Duarte and Ricardo Ortiz) and Pueblo of Tesuque (Mark Mitchell and Bernard Mora) on a cultural mission. The delegation viewed the new Pueblo Bonito: Trading Treasures, Trading Ideas exhibition case located in the Grand Gallery followed by a behind-the-scenes visit to the Museum’s pre-eminent Chaco Canyon archaeological collections.
The representatives also viewed ethnographic items from their Pueblos as well as historic photos of the southwest housed in the Library’s Special Collections. This consultation continues the open and productive dialog between Puebloan communities and the AMNH, steward of significant Puebloan photographs and collections.
