Visiting the Invertebrate Zoology Collections

Admission to and use of collections is granted to research scientists, graduate students and other visitors who are affiliated with a recognized academic or research institution.

Access to collections is by appointment only. Requests to work with the collections should be made to the appropriate Curator-in-Charge at least 2 weeks prior to the anticipated visit and should specify 1) the proposed dates of visit; 2) the purpose of the visit; and 3) the specimens to be examined. Students should provide a letter of intent from their advisor on institution letterhead.

Open hours to visit the collections are weekdays, 9:00 a.m to 5:00 p.m., excluding public holidays. Special permission may be granted to visit outside of these hours under certain circumstances.

Eating, drinking and smoking are not allowed in any of the collection areas.

If you are using chemicals for your work in the museum, please remember that typical laboratory protocols apply. All chemicals must be labeled clearly and stored appropriately. All hazardous waste must be labeled as such with the date the hazardous waste container was started. Please inform your host that you will be using chemicals and that they will need proper disposal when your visit is complete here.
