ONE STEP BEYOND with TOKiMONSTA, Obey City, and Photay

Each month AMNH presents a different DJ performing in the Museum’s Rose Center for Earth and Space. Guests can also take a walk up the Cosmic Pathway to the Hayden Big Bang Theater where acclaimed actor Liam Neeson narrates a dynamic flight through the virtual universe based on an accurate cosmic atlas. 

Beer and wine will be served at a cash bar. Advance purchase of tickets is recommended to guarantee entry.

TOKiMONSTA (Headliner)


Los Angeles native, TOKiMONSTA (Jennifer Lee) has released two albums since 2010.  She has been featured on various large-scale radio programs such as: BBC Radio1 (UK), NPR (USA), BBC World Service (UK), and J Wave (JP), among others. LA Weekly ranked her as 2010’s #1 female DJ in Los Angeles and Resident Adviser did a full feature on her for their “Breaking Through,” series, which focuses on the next big artist. TOKiMONSTA participated in the prestigious Red Bull Music Academy in London in 2010. In the summer of 2012, she was part of the Full Flex Express tour, the first electronic music themed train tour that traveled across Canada with Skrillex, Diplo, Pretty Lights, and Grimes. She performed on the very first SS Coachella, which is Golden Voices’ first ocean cruise festival. Some notable past performances were at Coachella, Sonar Barcelona, DEMF, WMC, Electric Zoo, SXSW, Camp Bisco, Decibel Festival, What The Festival, and Burning Man

Obey City

Brooklyn-based producer/DJ, Sam Obey—also known as Obey City—combines elements of R&B, house, and hip-hop to create his sound. He is a co-founder of Astro Nautico, the Brooklyn-based digi-label/blog/party in 2009. Obey City also collaborates and performs with vocalists, emcees, and visual artists in the NYC area.

Photay (opener)


Brooklyn DJ and producer, Photay, also known as Evan Shornstein, is a 21-year-old from Woodstock, NY. Having been introduced to Aphex Twin at age of 9, he began embracing music in all of its forms. Photay was created years later, after a trip to Guinea, West Africa. Combining his newly acquired knowledge of polyrhythmic percussion and years of experimenting with sampling and field recordings, he went on to create and self-release his first project under the alias.
