Auchenorrhyncha

The collections of leaf hoppers and their relatives at the AMNH are large and diverse, although the Auchenorrhyncha collection has not had a curator in the 140-year history of the museum. Our acquisition of the R. Linnavuori collection in 1987 added more than 100,000 specimens, of which 400 were type specimens. The Linnavuori collection was dominated by the Cicadellidae, on which Linnavuori published extensively. However, other groups such as the Fulgoroidea, Cercopidae, and Cicadidae are well represented. AMNH holds the type specimens of W.T. Davis.
