Molecular Labs

The Sackler Institute for Comparative Genomics (SICG) at the American Museum of Natural History is a core research facility housing three modern molecular laboratories. Research in the SICG uses genetic and genomic techniques to study a wide variety of taxa and systems, while addressing questions of evolution, taxonomy, conservation, and ecology. Types of projects done in the SICG have included nucleic acid isolation, Sanger sequencing, next-gen applications, whole-genome sequencing, de novo transcriptomes, population genetics/genomics, environmental DNA, ancient DNA, and differential gene expression studies.
