August 6th to 16th, 2020

The course is designed for students, amateur naturalists, conservation biologists, and other biologists who have an interest in learning more about butterfly and moth taxonomy. It emphasizes taxonomy, ecology, and field identification of Lepidoptera in southeastern Arizona. Lectures will include background information on the biology of animal pollinators. Field trips will provide participants with collecting, sampling, and observation techniques. The lab portion of the course will include instruction on specimen identification, preparation, and labeling.

DEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS: July 10th, 2020. If accepted, fees are due by July 23rd, 2020.

Costs

Tuition for the 10 night course is $1,450.00, which is to be paid by all participants upon being informed of their acceptance. Tuition covers course fees, housing and meals at the SWRS.

Please pay with personal check, traveler's checks, certified check, or money order, made payable to SWRS. If you need to use a credit card, please purchase a certified check, traveler's check, or money order with your credit card. We ask that you keep in mind that the Station is a non-profit organization and fees for credit card charges continue to increase. If necessary call 520-558-2396 to pay with a Visa or MasterCard credit card. If you reside outside the United States: please submit your payment in the form of a certified check, money order, or bank transfer in the net amount of your fees in U.S. Dollars. Please contact the Station to obtain details for a bank transfer to SWRS. 

Transportation

Costs for travel between home and Tucson (air) and the SWRS (auto) are to be borne by all participants. As participants register, we will send out email addresses so that participants can contact each other to carpool to and from the station.
