The Department of Ornithology at the American Museum of Natural History maintains collections of study specimens and tissue samples. The Department makes these collections available to qualified borrowers and visitors upon request. All requests will be evaluated by the department's curatorial staff. Approval will be subject to the nature and suitability of the project, and to the availability of collection staff to process the request. Approval is not guaranteed.
All prospective borrowers and visitors must download, read, and complete the form below. This includes requests for specimen photos and for data of any kind (e.g., measurements; color observations; label notations; etc.)
Please note that requests to visit the department require at least four weeks notice prior to the start date of the proposed visit.
