Tourism Trade: FAQs
- General Admission (GA) includes access to more than 40 permanent exhibition halls, the Rose Center for Earth and Space, and the Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation.
- General Admission + One Ticketed Exhibition (GA+1) includes General Admission plus one of the following: the Davis Family Butterfly Vivarium, Invisible Worlds, the giant-screen film, the Hayden Planetarium Space Show, or other ticketed exhibitions.
New York residents may pay what they wish for General Admission only.
Visitors who want to add an additional ticketed exhibition, the butterfly vivarium, Invisible Worlds, the giant-screen film, or the Hayden Planetarium Space Show to their GA or GA+1 ticket can do so by paying an additional $10 per person, per exhibition. Note tickets must be purchased on-site at the Museum on the day of visit and are subject to availability.

The Museum is open daily from 10 am–5:30 pm ET and closed on Thanksgiving (the last Thursday of November), and Christmas Day, December 25.
The Museum is located at 200 Central Park West (at 79th St) New York, NY 11024.
- Bus drop-off requests are subject to availability and can only be made by calling the Museum’s Central Reservation team at +1-212-769-5200, open daily 9 am–5 pm ET.
- Subway: Take the B (weekdays only) or C to 81st Street. Two blocks west of the Museum, the 1 train stops at Broadway and West 79th Street. For a complete subway map, visit the MTA website.
- Please note: The 81st Street subway station and subway entrance to the Museum are not wheelchair accessible. The closest accessible subway station is the 72nd Street station for the 1, 2, and 3 trains, with a connection on the northbound M7 on Amsterdam Avenue.
- Bus: The M79 bus travels east/west on West 79th Street across Central Park, with a stop next to the Museum on West 81st Street. Other buses also stop at or near the Museum, including the M7, M10, M11, M86, and M104 buses. For complete bus information, visit the MTA website.

The Museum offers free guided tours that are available to visitors on a first come, first served basis. Get more information about tours.
The American Museum of Natural History does not allow third parties to lead private tours within the Museum. Any unauthorized tours will be asked to stop immediately.
Yes, the Museum has multiple dining options, including:
- The Restaurant at Gilder, 11:30 am–3:30 pm, Floor 2, Gilder Center. The Restaurant at Gilder offers table-service dining with a view overlooking the soaring architecture of the Kenneth C. Griffin Exploration Atrium.

- Museum Food Court, 10:30 am–4:30 pm, Lower Level, across from the 81st Street subway station exit. A wide variety of selections for all ages and palates, with gluten-free and nut-free choices, and a menu that changes daily. A manager will be able to answer any questions about ingredients.
- Cafe on 1, 10:30 am–4 pm, Floor 1, between Futter Gallery and the Spitzer Hall of Human Origins. Gourmet fare including panini sandwiches pressed to order and cheese and dried fruit plates. Desserts, espresso, and cold beverages are also served.
- Cafe on 4, 10:30 am–4 pm, Floor 4, between the Milstein Hall of Advanced Mammals and the Wallach Orientation Center. Sandwiches, soups, salads, fruit, desserts, espresso, and cold beverages.
