Don't Miss
First floor: The 94-foot-long blue whale in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life, the Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals, and the Mignone Halls of Gems and Minerals, featuring two giant amethyst geodes and 5,000 gem and mineral specimens from around the world.
Fourth floor: The world-famous fossils halls, including the fossil of Tyrannosaurus rex and the cast of The Titanosaur.
Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation: See new exhibitions, including the Solomon Family Insectarium, Davis Family Butterfly Vivarium, and the Invisible Worlds immersive experience.
Hall Closures and Health and Safety Measures
The health and safety of visitors and staff is a top priority. To promote physical distancing and reduced contact, the following are temporarily unavailable:

*Eating is prohibited in Museum galleries. Visitors may leave and return using the same timed-entry ticket on the same day. When re-entering the Museum, visitors must enter at the 81st Street or Central Park West entrances and must go back through the security line to be readmitted.

Health and Safety Requirements for Visitors
- Avoid visiting if you have symptoms of COVID-19, have been diagnosed with COVID-19 within the past 14 days, or have been in close contact (within 6 feet for 10 minutes or more) with someone infected with or experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 within the past 14 days.
- Facial coverings are strongly recommended throughout the visit for all visitors ages 2 and up.
- Children under age 12 must remain with adults at all times.
- Use hand sanitizer, which will be available at stations throughout the building.
- Follow directions from staff and signage for physical distancing, reducing contact, and other guidelines for use of facilities.
- Follow the Museum’s Code of Conduct.
