Our special guest judge for this challenge is scientist Benjamin Keisling.

He is a glaciologist. He uses computer models and data from ice cores to study how glaciers are affected by climate change. You can watch Benjamin talk about his work in this video!

This is an excellent poster! I love that there is so much movement and action happening. And I appreciate that the energy in the poster is very positive. To me, this poster sends a message that by working together, we can learn to live more sustainably and be happy at the same time. I think this is a great way to encourage action on climate.

"The more trees that grow, the more carbon dioxide is absorbed and the more oxygen we have to breathe free."
Judge's Comments:
Beautiful illustration combined with a clear, iconic message. I love this slogan because it works in multiple ways. Planting trees helps us breathe because they produce oxygen. And we can "breathe free" after planting trees because we know we've done something good for the planet.

Judge's Comments:
Beautiful poster! The polar bear and penguin are great representatives of the fact that global warming is happening most rapidly at the poles. The "melting" planet is visually stunning. I could definitely see this poster having an impact on getting people to change their behavior and drink more tap water rather than water bottled in disposable plastic.

I find the imagery in this poster really powerful! Reading the poster from left to right, I can really see the story that is being told. And the text is also scientifically accurate and informative. I especially like how the tree in the middle of the poster exists in both the pre- and post-climate change world. It gives a real sense of urgency to the poster and the message.

Wow, this is a great poster! There are many elements here that are all working together to send one strong message about taking action to fight climate change. "World Map of Things That Cause Global Warming"
Judge's Comments:
This is a really fantastic poster! The use of a map with a legend is something that we do a lot in scientific research on climate change. And the creators of this poster have used a similar strategy to convey a clear message.

"This is the Anasazi Sun Dagger. It is a Sun etched on a stone where the sunlight marked the seasons. The Anasazi People (or Pueblo People) lived in North America’s Southwest region for thousands of years. They were farmers and learned very much about the Sun and the Moon. But, their land dried out, and possibly starvation led to social crisis. Climate change destroyed the Anasazi People almost 1,000 years ago."

Excellent poster! The image is visually stunning. The font is also very interesting and iconic. And it tells an important story about human beings and climate change. I really appreciate how you incorporated this story about the Anasazi people and their scientific knowledge.

"A poster to remind everyone to help keep NYC beautiful."

This poster is really beautiful. The simple shapes that make up the picture look like a natural landscape, but to me they also suggest tall buildings, which gives the illustration a whimsical element. The clear, loud message is a perfect match for the drawing. I would love to see this poster up around New York City!

This poster shows how "reuse" can be even better for the environment than recycling. I think this is a very important message. And I love how clearly this poster communicates it. The cardboard car is a really fun way to reuse the box. Great poster!

I really like how this poster provides "what" and "why" for many different actions we can take to reduce our impact on the planet. I really like this poster! You have conveyed a clear and powerful message using minimal text by focusing on images that show action. I love that the person planting a tree is clearly enjoying it. And we can immediately see the impact of more oxygen (O₂) in the atmosphere thanks to the tree.

"My poster is informing people other forms of transport they can use beside driving to help reduce pollution. They can walk or use bicycle more. Furthermore, they need to pack light, use public transport, and they can carpool."

I like the combination of shapes and colors and how they are used to convey a clear message. The text is playful (let your car take a hike!) and impactful at the same time. The bike and bike trails also illustrate how doing things that help the environment can also be a lot of fun!
