Image Gallery: Detailed Look at the Black Smoker Sulfide Chimney
The black smoker sulfide chimney nicknamed "Finn" was collected by the AMNH and the University of Washington for research and exhibition purposes. Visible here are the channels through which
superheated water flowed. The golden minerals are chalcopyrite and the white
discoloration is salt that is precipitating on the surface as the sample continues to
dry out.
