The astrophysics instrumentation lab clean room on the sixth floor of the Rose Center.

Ben Oppenheimer

The Department has at its disposal a state-of-the-art optics lab which has produced four cutting-edge astronomical instruments used at Palomar Observatory, the Gemini Observatory and, previously, the AEOS facility in Maui.

Simulations are performed on the Museum's parallel computing facilityNSF XSEDE, and NASA High-End Computing systems.

The Department is also a partner in the South Africa Large Telescope and uses optical, radio, infrared, ultraviolet, and X-ray observatories both worldwide and in space.
