The Hermitage Ring has a diamond, about 9 carats, showing a magnificent modification of the point cut to form three triangular facets on each pyramidal side. This cut may have been devised to avoid the difficulty of polishing a single pyramidal facet of this size. Diamond, gold, and enamel; Western European, early 16th century. Loaned by the Hermitage State Museum, St. Petersburg, Russia.
