Mammoth, painting by Charles Knight

The Museum's fossil halls provide information in a variety of formats, ranging from text and graphics to the latest in exhibition technology. The latter includes Timelines, a computer exhibit created specifically for the Museum. At Timelines computer stations visitors can travel back to different time periods in the history of the earth. Vivid, fleshed-out reproductions of the extinct creatures in the exhibition halls appear in scenes depicting their environments as they might have been millions of years ago. On the Museum's website you can move through the scenes to learn more about these animals and the ecosystems in which they lived.
