The Division of Paleontology encompasses the Departments of Invertebrate Paleontology and Vertebrate Paleontology.

Researchers in the Department of Invertebrate Paleontology seek to understand the relationship and history of animals without backbones. Department of Vertebrate Paleontology
Researchers in the Department of Vertebrate Paleontology seek to understand the relationship and history of backboned animals. In addition to carrying out laboratory studies and fieldwork, which takes scientists across the globe in search of fossil remains, the Department houses the world's largest collection of vertebrate fossils. More than 600 specimens from this collection are featured in the Museum's newly renovated fossil halls, which trace the evolution of vertebrate life.  Continue to department site >
