Daniel López Lozano

Biodiversity Informatics Specialist

Research Interests

Daniel López Lozano is a Biodiversity Informatics Specialist at the Museum's Center for Biodiversity and Conservation. In this role, Daniel contributes to the implementation and development of applied biodiversity conservation research projects by utilizing biodiversity informatics. He collaborates with other CBC projects and provides technical and scientific training to staff and students. Additionally, Daniel supports the creation of educational and outreach materials related to CBC's biodiversity informatics initiatives. 

Daniel holds an M.Sc. in Information Engineering from Universidad de los Andes, Colombia, with a thesis focused on Computer Vision using Deep Learning. He also holds a bachelor’s degree focused on Computer Science from Politecnico Grancolombiano, Colombia. Prior to joining the CBC, Daniel worked as a biodiversity informatics researcher at the Alexander von Humboldt Biological Resources Research Institute in Bogota, Colombia. Daniel’s research interests primarily focus on Artificial Intelligence and Data-driven solutions, particularly in the field of biodiversity conservation.
