The Museum is working to maintain health and safety during your visit. Ongoing measures include:

  • Enhanced filtration in our HVAC systems to optimize indoor air quality
  • Hand-sanitizing stations, available throughout our public spaces

Masks are optional during your visit. Visitors should review and follow the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance for preventing respiratory viruses. Please note: Museum safety protocols related to airborne infectious diseases are subject to change as per New York City, New York State, and federal guidelines and orders.

Health and Safety Requirements for Visitors

  • Avoid visiting if  you have respiratory virus symptoms including fever, chills, fatigue, cough, runny nose, and headache.
  • Children under age 12 must remain with adults at all times.
  • Use hand sanitizer, which will be available at stations throughout the building.
  • Follow directions from staff and signage for use of facilities.
  • Follow the Museum’s Code of Conduct.
  • Visitors who require an accommodation for any of these items must contact [email protected] before your visit to discuss your needs.

*Eating is prohibited in Museum galleries. Visitors may leave and return with a ticket on the same day. When re-entering the Museum, visitors must enter at the 81st Street or Central Park West entrances and must go back through the security line to be readmitted.
