History of the Project

The Darwin Manuscript Project was a collaborative effort based at the American Museum of Natural History Library and led by Professor David Kohn, in partnership with the Manuscripts Department of Cambridge University Library.

The effort supported conservation and the full-color, high-resolution digitization of Cambridge's near-complete collection of Darwin's scientific papers. The Project made images and transcriptions of manuscripts available online—some of which were not available previously.

Manuscript images and transcriptions are available at Cambridge University.
