The current El Niño is shaping up to be one of the strongest events on record, and its reach goes far beyond warmer Pacific waters. 

Join Emily Becker, research associate professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Miami’s Rosenstiel School of Marine, Atmospheric, and Earth Science, and Kris Karnauskas, associate professor in the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder, for a conversation that connects the dots: what El Niño actually is (and the myths worth clearing up), how scientists track it months in advance, and how shifts in ocean temperature can shape hurricane seasons and disease outbreaks.
