BIPOC Climate Justice Summit

As a part of ClimateFest at the Museum, join us for the 6th Annual BIPOC Climate Justice Summit: Climate Democracy Frontiers, a full-day public event bringing Climate Week NYC to everyone.  

This year’s summit convenes frontline communities—who experience climate change “first and worst”—and organizers, researchers, funders, and public servants to build collective power and advance transformative climate justice. 

Join us to explore progress on climate justice across the following themes: 

• Defending Democracy: Building people power when rights, civic space, and funding shrink 
• Truth and Community: Defending science and information in an era of misinformation and confronting extractive systems with community-led alternatives 
• Community-Led Governance: Centering the leadership of Indigenous and frontline communities, and reimagining education as a tool for building power 
• Defending Territory: Standing with frontline communities against extraction
• Mutual Aid and Funding: Reimagining philanthropy as a tool to shift power and mutual aid as a foundational practice for climate resilience and safety 
• Sustainability through an HBCU Lens: Grounding climate solutions in BIPOC institutional legacy and student leadership 

Through dynamic panels, an exhibition area featuring posters, tables from environmental and climate justice organizations, and art showcases, this gathering aims to ignite alignment across sectors and build momentum for the shifts needed to deliver climate justice. The summit is co-convened by HBCU Green Fund, ACE Observatory, and dozens of frontline organizations, in collaboration with the American Museum of Natural History.
