Class levels are dependent on folding ability. If you are new to folding, please consider taking one of our Family Fun classes, designed for beginners.
These are formal classes so please be prepared to stay for the full two-hour class.
Family Fun classes are for ages 5+. Children between 5–8 must have a parent or guardian with them.
All other classes are for ages 8+. Children between 8–13 must have a parent or guardian with them.
Morning classes run from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Please arrive by 10:15 am.
Teacher: Nathan Ascher
Get the most bang for your buck. When it comes to 12 piece modular cubes, this one is especially popular. There are several published variations of this model designed by Lewis Simon and Bennett Arnstein, but all have a woven look and strong locks. Try making “weaves” with different colors and/or patterns to achieve a stunning effect. Link two together to create a dramatic decoration piece; a definite conversation starter.

Shark week in December! No need to fear, Joseph will rescue you from his original marine menaces. You don’t have to be an elasmobranchologist to appreciate and admire the sleek elegant lines of these sharks. They consist of fundamental folds such as squashes, crimps and petal folds. Depending on the color you choose, make a great white or blue shark. And nothing can rival the prehistoric-looking hammerhead. Make enough for your own feeding frenzy!

No cock and bull story here, just a couple of fun animal-themed models. The Josco is a dollar bill bull and derives its name from a Puerto Rican story about a bull that fights an American bull (a metaphor for the country’s territorial claims). And of course, the Knight is the horse piece of Indian origin in chess. So, bring a few dollar bills and join Marcos as he regales you with tales about his original creations.
Afternoon classes run from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Please arrive by 2:15 pm.

Set the stage with these simple seasonal models. Candace will teach a tree, a candy cane, a dove candy dish and other models as time permits. This class is a great opportunity for families to explore the magic of origami together. No experience is necessary. For Family Fun (beginner) classes you must be at least 5 years old. Children between 5 and 8 must have a parent or guardian register and take the class with them. Adults not accompanying children are also welcome!

Here’s the perfect introduction to the endlessly fascinating world of tessellations. Originally titled as “crowded butterflies,” this tessellation by Shizu Fujimoto has a single collapse that is formed from a 12x12 grid. Nathan will show you how to make four tiles over a 24x24 grid. There are many square tessellations, but this is one of the first published.

“Hmmm, should I make a forest of fir trees or make tiny ornaments for a holiday tree?” That’s the question you’ll be asking yourself when you see this conifer by Max Hulme. Donna will provide the 5 graduated squares of paper for the conical units that assemble into a majestic tree. Getting ready for the holidays has never been so easy and fun!
