Class levels are dependent on folding ability. If you are new to folding, please consider taking one of our Family Fun classes, designed for beginners.
These are formal classes so please be prepared to stay for the full two-hour class.
Family Fun classes are for ages 5+. Children between 5–8 must have a parent or guardian with them.
All other classes are for ages 8+. Children between 8–13 must have a parent or guardian with them.
Morning Classes
Morning classes run from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm. Please arrive by 10:15 am.
Teacher: Wendy Zeichner
Let’s party! Wendy will teach her favorite models including some great action models that move and a happy crown that turns an ordinary day into a festive one! This class is a great opportunity for families to explore the magic of origami together. No experience is necessary. For Family Fun (beginner) classes you must be at least 5 years old. Children between 5 and 8 must have a parent or guardian register and take the class with them. Adults not accompanying children are also welcome!
Teacher: Kathy Riley
Surprise your friends and family with these fabulous pop-up cards. Students will make one card together, incorporating Gay Merrill Gross’s Butterfly Corner Clip and a blossom. From there, your imagination is the only limit as Kathy shares design tips using traditional models. Participants can use models they already know to make additional cards.
Teacher: John Szinger
Smell the sea air, feel the salty spray of the Mediterranean as you explore the depths of the Adriatic Sea. John will be your dive master on this journey into the inky abyss to fold his original creations. Both the Octopus and Cuttlefish are 3D and sculptural and work well in a variety of papers, including foil. Naturally, you’d probably enjoy wet folding them!
Afternoon Classes
Afternoon classes run from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Please arrive by 2:15 pm.
Teacher: Alice Baldwin-Jones
Pull out your foil paper and brighten your day with these starry beauties. Alice will pilot you through the heavens with these flat modulars. The Stephanie Star consists of 8 units and has a lovely interwoven lock. The Paula Star uses 5 units and forms a perfect pentagonal star. They can add that extra zing and bling to a greeting card or present.
Teacher: Alice Fornari
Loosens those joints and limber up those fingers with this gorgeous 30-piece modular. Unlike most modulars, this one has a wonderful organic feel, with its rounded units. Play with different color combinations to personalize this fantastic fold. Let Alice help you find new forms in the world of modular origami...none of that boring angular stuff!
Teacher: Jared Lee
Slow and steady wins the race. Jared will accompany you from start to finish folding this amazing turtle by Mark Vigo. The model makes use of a modified waterbomb base to create the head, legs, tail, and shell. It has a clever sequence of swivel folds, squash folds and some reverse folds. Don’t fret, none of them are too difficult to navigate. So, come out of your shell and join in the fun!
