Now a new series of digital shorts, DIORAMA, is bringing the stories behind a few of these iconic scenes.
First up: the majestic Moose diorama in the Bernard Family Hall of North American Mammals. Why are the male moose fighting? Are they aiming to hurt each other with their massive antlers, or just to prove their mettle? And why is the nearby female watching them?
The episode "Why Moose Fight" features Museum Curator Ross D. E. MacPhee offering answers to these questions and more.
