Research Interests
Suzanne Macey, Ph.D., is the Assistant Director for Capacity Development at the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation (CBC) at the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH). In this role, she manages the Network of Conservation Educators and Practitioners (NCEP), organizes the Student Conference on Conservation Science (SCCS-NY), and is a Biodiversity Scientist. Suzanne leads the editorial processes for biodiversity conservation teaching and learning modules, the publication Lessons in Conservation, and other educational materials for the CBC. Suzanne teaches and contributes to faculty training events and curriculum development for programs in the AMNH's Education Department and Columbia University. Suzanne's biological research includes studies focused on the behavioral and spatial ecology, health, and genetics of freshwater and terrestrial turtle species. As part of her research projects, Suzanne mentors high school, undergraduate, and graduate students. Suzanne earned a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences and a Graduate Certificate in Conservation Biology at Fordham University before joining the CBC team.
