Making Map Projections

Part of the Antarctica: The Farthest Place Close to Home Curriculum Collection.

A sketch of the materials needed to make a handmade map projector, including a flashlight, paper and tape, and the cut-off bottom of a plastic bottle.

Don't toss that empty soda bottle! Grab a knife and test out your cartography skills. You'll never look at a map of the Earth in the same way again.
