Are you interested in exploring science in one of the greatest scientific institutions in the world? Science Alliance is an exciting and challenging enrichment program that provides middle schoolers with an opportunity to become a part of the scientific world at the American Museum of Natural History.

Science Alliance is a two-year program open to all New York City Residents. Students may apply in 5th or 6th grade for their first year in the program. During your two years, students learn about the core sciences at AMNH: Anthropology, Life Science, and Earth and Planetary Science (including astronomy and astrophysics!)

Successful Science Alliance graduates are eligible to apply for Explore AMNH courses in our After School Program as early as 8th grade and 9th graders are granted early admission to the High School After School Program, where they can learn about more in-depth topics of their choosing and discover mentoring and internship opportunities for teens.

Our curricula is focused on interdisciplinary classes that combine the fields of study at the museum in new and interesting ways. No matter your level of experience, Science Alliance offers unique opportunities to get excited about our natural world. In Science Alliance students get close to Museum artifacts and specimens, conduct investigations, and study different scientific fields in hands-on ways. Our students form close friendships and become part of a like-minded group of individuals who share a common curiosity and interest in the scientific world.

Science Alliance involves parents in their child's learning by inviting them to participate in unique Parent University Workshops. Offered on a trimester basis, these workshops, led by the Science Alliance instructors, encourage parents to gain an understanding of the scientific content and activities their children experience in class so they are better able to support their child's learning and interests.

Classes meet weekly on Mondays or Fridays during the academic year from 4:30 - 6:30pm. Once your child has been accepted into Science Alliance, they have the opportunity to re-enroll for the following year. Upon completion the second year, graduates can continue their science learning at the Museum with special aluni-only early access to the Museum's outstanding high school offerings in the After School Program.
