Sample Prep and Printing

In addition to major instrumentation, the Microscopy and Imaging Facility (MIF) offers these additional research supporting services. These services must be booked on Calpendo, and have differing advance booking requirements.

Specimen Preparation

SEM Preparation

For these two preparation methods, we generally have all required materials like carbon tape and stubs. These are booked on Calpendo and can be booked up to one day in advance.

• Critical Point Drying: Dries wet specimens in ethanol using CO2
• Sputter Coating: Coats specimens in a gold palladium alloy

CT Scan Preparation

We do have some fixatives but may not have the best protocols for your samples. Please reach out well in advance if you may need assistance with this so we can collaborate. The MIF does not have any stains.

Printing

Must be booked 2 weeks in advance.

Poster Printing

• Large format posters for presentation at academic conferences only
• Size limit 44"x60"
• Jpeg file format
• One poster per person

Posters are generally printed on glossy paper, but the printer can print on other materials ie canvas if provided.
