AMNH Herpetology houses approximately 400,000 specimens of Recent amphibians and reptiles including significant holdings from Africa, Australia, China, Madagascar, New Guinea, Pacific Islands, Pakistan, Panama, South America, United States, and Vietnam.
The separately catalogued collections of amphibians and reptiles total more than 335,000 specimens, of which more than 13,000 have more than one type of preparation.
