Fossils specimens are kept either on display in the Museum's exhibition halls or in specially designed collection facilities. Modern collection rooms are climate-controlled in order to assure that temperature and humidity extremes do not compromise the adhesives and glues holding the naturally-fractured bones and teeth together. Larger bones are housed on sturdy, padded shelves, whereas smaller bones and teeth are stored in labeled metal cabinets that contain adjustable, padded, wooden drawers. A team of experts, including curators, collection managers and preparators, is responsible for safeguarding the specimens, keeping them in proper order, and making them available for visiting scientists.
