How do we find new planets?

It’s possible to see many of the planets in our solar system just by looking up at the night sky—but only those that are largest and closest to our Sun. Astrophysicist Jackie Faherty explains a few of the more advanced astrometric techniques used to detect exoplanets, objects that orbit distant stars.
