Wind can be a powerful force in shaping a landscape. Grains of sand and dust carried by wind wear away the surface of rocks over centuries to millions of years. Strong desert winds like those in Antarctica can be especially abrasive, creating some of Earth’s most dramatic wind-sculpted features.
