Sixty-six million years ago, an asteroid impact changed life on Earth forever.

Tour begins in Spring 2027.

Experience the before-and-after story of the asteroid impact that led to the extinction of non-bird dinosaurs and the majority of animal and plant species on the planet.

Step back in time to the flourishing Cretaceous Period—when dinosaurs walked the Earth, pterosaurs flew in the skies, and massive marine reptiles ruled the oceans. Experience the moment an asteroid crashed into the Earth and learn how this mass extinction event paved the way for the rise of the mammals, setting the stage for the emergence of our human ancestors.

Impact: The End of the Age of Dinosaurs features immersive panoramic video, interactives and hands-on games and quizzes, fossil casts, and full-size dioramas and models—including an adult Triceratops, a battling plesiosaur and mosasaur, and an indricotherium. Explore life before the catastrophic end to the reign of the dinosaurs, the rapid evolution that followed their extinction, and the incredible recovery of our planet.

Key Questions

  • What was life like before the asteroid’s impact?
  • How did life recover in the aftermath of the asteroid?
  • Could something like this mass extinction happen again?
  • How can we protect our planet’s biodiversity today?
