Raman Microscope in EPS with 3 lasers

The Raman microscopy lab houses an Oxford WITec alpha300 confocal Raman microscope with three lasers of different wavelengths. The microscope was installed in June 2024. We analyze rocks, meteorites, dragonfly wings, and other natural and synthetic materials using the Raman microscope. The instrument is part of a project to build a Raman spectral library for mineral identification, using the AMNH mineral collection and X-ray diffraction lab. Raman laboratory scheduling is handled by Dr. Kate Kiseeva ([email protected]), alternatively by Frank Schrama ([email protected]).
