Non-Research Visitors

The Southwestern Research Station is located in the heart of the beautiful Chiricahua Mountains and is famous for its close proximity to nesting Elegant Trogons, a large diversity of hummingbirds, and other spectacular bird migrants from Central and South America.
We are happy to provide accommodations to non-researchers and also offers opportunities to outside tour groups, birding tours, and space for meetings and events. Enjoy comfortable accommodations, cafeteria dining, our hummingbird area and nature shop, and a multitude of hiking trails within walking distance or a short drive.

Meetings and Events
Conservation conferences, university seminars, writing and painting workshops, and martial arts training groups are just a few of the organizations that have enjoyed our hospitality. Our remote location makes for few distractions, except of course our spectacular scenery and abundance of wildlife. Most visitors come in the spring and fall, when the facility is not fully staffed by researchers.
Our Education Building provides seating for up to 120 people. Equipped with state of the art projectors and screens as well as a PA system, tables, chairs, and wireless internet, it is ideal for gatherings both large and small.
Our conference room resides in the original ranch house alongside our kitchen and dining hall. It is a comfortable room with a library and fireplace. This room is also equipped with a projector, screen, and PA system accommodating up to 60 people.
The Osborne Memorial Laboratory has hosted breakout sessions for previous meetings with space for approximately 50 people. Portable projectors and screens can be provided.
Many groups have taken advantage of our outdoor spaces with picnic tables to conduct meetings. With 100 acres of property abutting National Forest, there are abundant opportunities to move the meeting outside.
